Executive Vice President of Toyota Motor Corporation

Osamu Nagata is an executive vice president of Toyota Motor Corporation. He graduated from the University of Tokyo with a bachelor’s degree in economics in March 1980 and joined Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) in April the same year.

Nagata was seconded to Toyota Motor Manufacturing North America, Inc. (now Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing North America, Inc.) in January 2000. In January 2007, he became the division general manager of the Miyoshi Plant Administration Division at TMC. In June 2009, he was made managing officer, and was appointed plant manager of the Miyoshi and Tahara Plant. Mr. Nagata became a deputy chief officer of the External Affairs Group in April 2011. In April 2013, he was made senior vice president of Toyota Motor North America, Inc. (TMA), and a president and CEO of Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing North America, Inc. In April 2015, he became a senior managing officer of TMC, Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) of the North America Region as well as executive vice president. In April 2017, Mr. Nagata was made an executive vice president of TMC, and became Chief Financial Officer.

Toyota Introduces Wearable Device For The Blind
Toyota is exploring its catchphrase, “Let’s Go Places,” from an unexpected angle. The Japanese automaker has developed a wearable device aimed at assist the blind and visually impaired. It’s a gadget worn around the shoulders that will help people navigate their surroundings, filling “the gaps left by canes, dogs and basic GPS devices.”
