Substance Abuse Activist; 2016 DNC Speaker

Pam Livengood is a substance abuse activist, and speaker at the 2016 Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. While participating in a workers' roundtable discussion with Hillary Clinton in Keene, New Hampshire, Pam brought up the issue of substance abuse and her personal family history of struggles with addiction - particularly that of her daughter's. Because of her daughter's struggle with addiction, her and her husband have become guardians for their grandson.

Hillary Clinton was moved by the story and stayed in touch, continually asking how Francis, her grandchild, is doing. Clinton vowed to make battling substance abuse a priority for her administration.

So moved by her story, and the concerned with the substance abuse epidemic in New Hampshire and around the country, Hillary Clinton asked Livengood to speak at the Democratic National Convention. She was the first designated speaker scheduled to speak on the first day of the convention, July 25th, 2016.
