Pat has just launched The Purpose Business, Ltd (TPB) : Hong Kong’s first 360 degree network of sustainability strategists and creative consultants. TPB works with companies to galvanise and align their business, brand and sustainability goals, inspiring and enabling them to commit to and deliver responsible operations that positively impact their bottom line. Pat has more than a decade of sustainability leadership experience, most recently serving as Global head of CSR and Sustainability for Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts . Under her tenure she brought Shangri-La to the forefront of responsible tourism operations, making it the only Asian hotel group to be listed and recognised in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index since 2013 and continuously listed with the Hang Seng Sustainability Index since 2011. She was responsible for strategically developing and implementing "Sustainability," Shangri-La's Social Responsibility programme, across 89 hotels in 22 countries. Pat's work covered a broad spectrum including carbon management, diversity, environment stewardship, green building design and employee engagement.She developed a CSR Module that equipped over 40,000 global colleagues with a basic understanding of sustainability issues and was responsible for the creation of “Embrace”, allowing hotels to work with local children's organisations in education and health, programmes that benefitted more than 30,000 children. Equally successful was "Sanctuary," Shangri-La's Care for Nature Programme that included coral regeneration, orangutan and panda rehabilitation programmes. Prior to Shangri-La, Pat was the first CSR head of Ayala Land, Inc. where she spent over three years building VoluntarALI, the company's employee volunteerism programme in partnership with non profit organisations such as Habitat for Humanity and WWF-Philippines. Nuvali, ALI's first truly sustainability mixed use development became Pat's flagship project for empowered social development taking the old form of relocation to a state of engagement, where employment within the project site was offered. Pat has spent almost 15 years in both sustainable development and responsible operations after finishing a degree in European Studies from Ateneo de Manila University in 2001 and then receiving a country scholarship for the University of Birmingham , UK where she completed an MA in Globalisation and Governance. Pat currently serves on the World Economic Forum Global Agenda Council for Oceans, is the recipient of the International Hotel Investment Forum Young Leader award in 2014 and was named one of Premier Traveller’s ‘30 most Compelling Women in Travel for 2015. She was just named to the World Economic Forum Young Global Leaders Class of 2015 and is an Alumnae of the Ayala Young Leaders' Congress.
