Patrick Shaub

Aviation Safety Specialist

Patrick Shaub is a seasoned flight instructor who has traveled to every state in the United States talking about flying at industry management and leadership conferences, aviation safety seminars and flight instructor refresher clinics. He speaks on human factors to general aviation, military and EMS audiences.

“I have made a living flying helicopters in the Marines, the Army National Guard, air taxi operations, and air ambulance roles. This only proves I have a hard time holding employment,” says Pat. Due to his witty delivery, you’ll catch yourself laughing and taking notes at the same time. Pat spins yarns and teaches, making complex concepts seem simple, and threatening aviation safety scenarios seem easier to deal with. His programs are also salted liberally with examples taken from his extensive real-world flying experience.

Pat started flying airplanes in Houston as a high school student. After he graduated from college he joined the US Marine Corps and became a pilot in the CH-53 “Sea Stallion” helicopter. As a Marine he became a civil FAA airplane flight instructor. He also became a military helicopter instrument and tactics instructor in the Naval Air Training Command flying the UH-1 “Huey” and TH-57C helicopters.

After his active duty service he flew as a commercial helicopter pilot, air ambulance pilot, airplane and helicopter flight instructor and instrument flight instructor in the Texas Army National Guard. Pat is also an entrepreneur who has bought and sold aircraft internationally. Besides selling western aircraft he owned a company that dealt exclusively in Russian airplane and helicopter sales. He also founded and served as Director of Operations for two air ambulance services in Texas. One service operated helicopters, the other operated helicopters and later jets that flew international air medical operations.

Pat possesses the FAA Airline Transport Pilot certificate and is a Certificated Flight Instructor in airplanes and helicopters. He has over 6000 hours of experience in a wide variety of military and general aviation aircraft flying in North America and Asia. When not speaking and teaching on stage, you’ll find him in the right seat, instructing.
