Paul Arizin
In the early days of the NBA a handful of pioneering players laid the groundwork for what would become "modern" basketball.
Paul Arizin is considered to be one of Philadelphia's greatest basketball legends.
He attended Villanova University prior to be drafted by the Philadelphia Warriors in the NBA. While in the NBA he was a two-time scoring champion and is considered one of the greatest basketball players in the 1950's.
From 1952 to 1954, he sat out of the NBA and fulfilled his military duties. He would return to the NBA, where he went on to play in 10 All-Star Games and became a three-time All-NBA First-Team member.
He is also a member of the Basketball Hall of Fame and was named one of the 50 greatest players in NBA History. In 1971, he was named to the NBA Silver Anniversary team.
