Paul Hammerness, M.D. and Margaret Moore

Dr. Hammerness and Ms. Moore are the co-authors of Organize Your Mind, Organize Your Life.
Margaret Moore is co-founder and co-director of the Institute of Coaching at McLean Hospital, an affiliate of Harvard Medical School. She is also a founding advisor of the Harvard Institute of Lifestyle Medicine, which is integrating lifestyle medicine and coaching into primary care.
She also founded Wellcoaches Corporation (a strategic partner of the American College of Sports Medicine) to establish professional coaches in health and wellness as the best possible intervention to enable people to engage in health-giving lifestyles day in and day out.
Moore was born on a dairy farm northeast of Toronto where she attended a two-room school and learned to drive a tractor. Her mother's parents were Russian German Mennonite refugees, among the few who escaped the 1917 Bolshevik Revolution. She graduated from the Univ. of Western Ontario, BSc Biology in 1978 and MBA in 1983, and also received an international scholarship at London Business School in the UK where she began her biotech career.
Dr. Hammerness is an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry, Harvard Medical School, Assistant Psychiatrist, Department of Psychiatry, Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) and Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist, Newton Wellesley Hospital. He completed his Adult Psychiatry Residency and Fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the combined program of MGH-McLean Hospital.
He has been involved in research on the brain and behavior for the past 10 years, with a focus on Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and support from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) as a clinical researcher. He has lectured on the topic locally, nationally and internationally to other physicians, mental health professionals, educators, and families.
Dr. Hammerness has over 30 publications in peer reviewed journals, a dozen recent clinical communications on the topic of assessment and management of pediatric/adult ADHD and has authored a book on ADHD for Greenwood Publishing’s Biography of Disease Series. Dr. Hammerness has also served on the MGH Institutional Review Board, participating in the review of clinical trials within the MGH community.
In addition, Dr. Hammerness is the Director of a part-time outpatient practice in general Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Newton Wellesley Hospital, and provides psychopharmacology consultation to local pediatricians.
