Academy Award-Nominated Actor, Best-Known for "Normal People" & "Aftersun"

Paul Mescal is an Irish actor. Born in Maynooth, he studied acting at The Lir Academy and subsequently performed in plays in Dublin theatres. Mescal rose to fame with his role in the BBC3 & Hulu's miniseries "Normal People," earning a BAFTA TV Award and a nomination for a Primetime Emmy Award.

Mescal made his film debut with a supporting role in the psychological drama "The Lost Daughter," and he received praise for starring in the 2022 drama films "God's Creatures" and "Aftersun." His performance as a troubled father in the latter earned him nominations for an Academy Award and BAFTA Film Award. Mescal's portrayal of Stanley Kowalski in a 2022–2023 West End revival of the play "A Streetcar Named Desire" earned him a nomination for a Laurence Olivier Award.
