Rudd starred as the title character in Marvel’s "Ant-Man," directed by Peyton Reed. The film opened at No. 1 at the box office and earned him a Critics’ Choice Award for Best Actor in an Action Movie and an MTV Movie Award for Best Hero. He co-wrote "Ant-Man" and its sequel, "Ant-Man and the Wasp," and reprised his role in Marvel’s "Captain America: Civil War," which grossed over $1 billion worldwide. In 2024, Rudd received two nominations at the 76th Primetime Emmy Awards: one for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series for his role as a murder victim in the mystery series "Only Murders in the Building," and another for Outstanding Narrator for his work on the National Geographic documentary series "Secrets of the Octopus." Rudd co-created the critically acclaimed series "Party Down" and gained widespread recognition as Mike Hannigan on "Friends." He won a Critics’ Choice Award for his guest role on "Parks and Recreation" and reprised his role as Andy in Netflix’s "Wet Hot American Summer" series.
Rudd appeared in Ben Lewin’s World War II thriller "The Catcher Was a Spy," and Andrew Fleming’s dramedy "An Ideal Home," opposite Steve Coogan, and Duncan Jones’ "Mute," alongside Alexander Skarsgård and Justin Theroux. Known for his comedic roles, Rudd starred in "Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues" with Will Ferrell and Steve Carell, reprising their characters from the original "Anchorman." His collaborations with Judd Apatow, including "This Is 40" and "Knocked Up," further cemented his comedic reputation, with the latter grossing over $300 million worldwide and earning a Critics’ Choice nomination for Best Comedy. Rudd’s other film credits include "Role Models," "I Love You, Man," "Forgetting Sarah Marshall," "Clueless," "The 40-Year-Old Virgin," "The Cider House Rules," and "Wet Hot American Summer," among others. On Broadway, Rudd starred in "Grace" with Michael Shannon and Edward Asner, earning a Drama League Award nomination. His stage work also includes "Three Days of Rain" with Julia Roberts and "Twelfth Night" at Lincoln Center.
