Paulina Alexis “Wagiya Cizhan” (Young Eagle) is an Indigenous actress. She is a full-blooded “born & raised” member of the Alexis Nakota Sioux Tribe in central Alberta, Canada. She is the youngest and only daughter of Robbie and Yvette Alexis; sister of Brandon, Nathan and Logan Alexis. She is the granddaughter to the late Logan Alexis, world renowned Roundance singer and song maker. Named after her late grandmother, Pauline Potts, who was known to be “unpredictable, tiny and fierce,” Paulina Alexis inherited her “eye of the tiger” spirit.

Alexis’ family tree spreads across the Treaty Six, Seven and Eight Territories in Alberta. Her tribe is very proud and supportive of her journey into the film industry. Her strong family values and rich Nakota Stoney heritage have customary rules she follows; be proud of who you are and where you come from, always acknowledge the territory you’re in and always respect your elders and all life around you.

Alexis loves children, animals and watching sunsets. Her personal hobbies include riding horses, skydiving, hockey and acting. She began acting as a fun role-playing family hobby at the young age of five when her father and older brothers would film superhero skits using an 8mm home video camera. As she got a little older, she began to develop a love for it.

Her professional acting career started just before she turned 19 when she was cast as a roller-skating waitress in the comedic fantasy film Ghostbusters: Afterlife. Shortly after, she was cast in the Canadian drama film Beans, written and directed by Tracey Deer. This is the story of a young girl’s experiences of the Oka Crisis in 1992, where she plays “April,” a friend of the main character “Beans.”

Alexis loves life and wants to make a positive difference for future generations to follow.
