Pedro Domingos is one of the top AI researchers in the world, a professor of computer science at the University of Washington in Seattle, and a tech industry insider. He is the author of "The Master Algorithm," an introduction to machine learning for a general audience that has sold over a third of a million copies worldwide to date. His article "A few useful things to know about machine learning" has been downloaded over a million times. He has written for the Wall Street Journal, Scientific American, Wired, and others, and his tweets receive several million impressions per month. He has given over 400 TV, radio, newspaper, and podcast interviews, including to CNN, PBS, the New York Times, and others, and is a highly sought-after speaker on AI and the issues surrounding it.

He has received the IJCAI McCarthy Award and the SIGKDD Innovation Award, two of the highest honors in AI and data science, and is a Fellow of AAAS and AAAI. His research at the University of Washington, a U.S. News Top Five school in computer science, pioneered massive-scale machine learning, mining social networks for influence maximization and adversarial learning. His group was one of the earliest in deep learning. His current research unifies different AI paradigms, including deep learning, symbolic AI, statistical learning, and analogical reasoning.

Domingos received his Ph.D. from the University of California at Irvine in 1997 and is the author or co-author of over 200 technical publications. He has held visiting positions at Stanford, Carnegie Mellon, and MIT. He co-founded the International Machine Learning Society in 2001 and was the founding director of the machine learning lab at D. E. Shaw, one of the most successful hedge funds of all time. He is known as a leading critic of both AI hype and AI alarmism. His latest book, "2040," is a satire of the AI craze and the culture wars.
