Penelope McQuade

Host

A "child of the circus", Penelope McQuade was born in the city of Québec of hippy parents, i.e. of a sharp-tongued mother with an incredible talent to shock with her clothing habits and of a non-conformist father, Winston McQuade, who was in the process of becoming an renowned public radio and television personality.

Rich of that heritage, McQuade was almost accidentally drawn into the wonderful world of television after her studies in journalism at UQAM. Although she had worked with a number of printed media and radio organizations, McQuade finally picked sides: television.

From 1993 to 2005, McQuade made name for herself, gaining amazing amounts of experience. She was on Bla Bla Bla, Automag Plus, Cyberclub, Les copines d'abord as well as Salut Bonjour on TVA, where she was cultural columnist for five years. On the radio, McQuade worked for CKAC, Rythme-FM, Énergie and Rock Détente where she co-hosted the morning show for two years. She was also very active in the world of major corporate events such as the International Microsoft Gala, the Formula One Ball, National Bank, Jean Coutu, UQAM Reconnaissance Gala, Toursime Québec and many others.

From 2005 to 2009, McQuade returned to TVA, and was the co-host of the show Star Systéme. In 2006, she took control of the evening talk show Juste pour rire en direct (Just for Laughs Live). Without a doubt, the highlight of her career has been her position as the leading host of the weekend morning show Salut Bonjour Weekend, where she is in her third year and counting.

Throughout all of it, McQuade finds time to help causes she believes in: La Fondation le Grand Chemin, for teens from 12 to 18 years old who have problems with drug addiction, and alcoholism, and also for the Montreal Museums Day for whom she has been the spokesperson for the last five years.
