Ph.D., Author Purposeful Intent, America's Intrinsic Self Motivation Coach

Dr. Pete has been called the Michael Phelps of Senior Olympic Swimming competition, and America's Intrinsic Self Motivation Coach. He holds several World Records in Masters Swimming. A speaker since 1970, he reveals The 3 Secret Skills of Top Performers. Along with these skills he will educate and inspire any audience in how to find their purpose in life and improve their performance for any purposeful job, task, skill, or relationship.

He is a behaviorist, author, speaker, coach, and publisher. His comprehensive book, Purposeful Intent: Motivating Your Mind From Within, has been called the Bible of intrinsic motivation. He has been a speaker at national and international research conferences, medical trade shows, professional meetings, ceremonies, and medical and educational conferences.

He earned his Ph.D. in Perceptual-Motor Learning and Sport Psychology from the University of Toledo in 1974, and tested the 1972 U.S. Men's Olympic swimming team and six of the top ten NCAA Division I teams for his dissertation research in personality, task familiarity, and goal setting. He was a five-time All-American at Indiana University coached by Doc Counsilman and has coached collegiate and high school All-Americans.

He completed his three year doctoral program in two years raising triplet boys born three months into his first year and accepted a position as an Assistant Professor, Aquatics Director and the first head swim coach at Furman University, Greenville, SC. After four years there and a divorce, he migrated back to Illinois via one year at the University of Kentucky before becoming the Director of Swimming and Head swim coach at Hinsdale Central H.S. where his 1979 and 1980 teams were ranked 5th in the nation.

From 1980-2000, he left education for business to increase his income to put four boys through college. He quickly excelled in each position as a national medical sales trainer, medical distributor rep, district and regional sales manager, and ultimately owner /CEO of a medical sales rep firm covering nine Midwest states. In that time he also founded Sports Advisor Features newspaper syndicate to publish his weekly column, The Sport Psychology Advisor. In 2000 he returned to education to earn administrator and superintendent certifications and retired in 2008 to make a difference as an author/speaker/consultant/publisher in performance improvement.

He is owner of Trius Publishing, Inc., Sports Advisor Features news syndicate, and Trius Speaking International speakers bureau. The Illinois State Board of Education approved his administrator academy course, Motivating Student Learning and Achievement Using the Purposeful Intent Method and The Triad Performance Improvement System.

All six of his grown children including the triplets have earned college degrees and continue to be successful to offer proof of his purposeful intent method to inspire consistent performance improvement. His third marriage of 26 years offers proof of purposeful relationship and Masters Swimming World Records offer proof of purposeful skills improvement.
