Cybersecurity Expert; Founder & President of Datasages

Peter Kofod is the Founder and President of Datasages, a Raleigh, North Carolina-based firm that provides software, integration and information architecture services to the critical infrastructure industry with an emerging focus on the blockchain.

Kofod has over twenty years of technical and leadership experience in Information Technology, including the development of secure hosted services for the transportation industry as well as designing and managing networks in the utility and defense sectors.

In his current capacity, Kofod has developed strong relationships with leading blockchain technology provider including Ledger, Talos and Lloyd’s of London for the purpose of bringing blockchain-powered technologies to enterprises and the public sector.

Prior to founding Datasages, Kofod led the enterprise management consulting service at ARINC (now Collins Aerospace) and was responsible for the deployment of several large enterprise management systems, focusing on high availability and secure networks, including the ground network for the International Space Station as well as the New York Transit Authority C3 network, part of a $3 Billion security initiative resulting from post 9/11 security hearings.

Prior to entering the technology sector, Kofod served on active duty as a United States Army officer from 1990 until 1996 where he served as a platoon leader as well as a staff officer.

Kofod went on to serve in the Army National Guard from 2001 to 2010. In 2005, Kofod was activated and served in Iraq as a member of a Special Forces Operational Detachment Alpha, serving as a combat advisor to the Iraqi Special Forces. Kofod returned to service in 2020 and is currently a senior Cyber Branch officer in the Army reserve component.

Kofod has spoken internationally on the use of blockchain in contract settlement and critical infrastructure assurance. Kofod has presented to the US Secret Service, the US Treasury, the Federal Reserve, major US banks, elected officials and numerous other stakeholders on cryptocurrencies and smart contracts.

Kofod holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute (1990). Kofod’s professional focus is on Internet security, trustless systems, and privacy and he has served on the committee for network security for the American Public Transit Association and serves on the Interoperable Train Control security committee.
