Writer Peter Elkind is an editor at large at Fortune magazine. Specializing in investigative stories, his works including in-depth pieces about Halliburton Corp., NYSE chief Dick Grasso's $140 million pay package, a "blood feud" between Volkswagen and General Motors, New York attorney general Eliot Spitzer, and Viktor Kozeny, known as "The Pirate of Prague" ("The Incredible Half-Billion-Dollar Azerbaijani Oil Swindle").

Peter Elkind is also author of "The Death Shift," a true-crime book about Texas nurse Genene Jones, convicted of killing children under her care. Elkind is co-author, with Bethany McLean, of "The Smartest Guys in the Room," a best-selling book about Enron. The 2005 documentary based on their book was nominated for an Academy Award.

Elkind has worked at Texas Monthly magazine, edited an award-winning Dallas weekly, and written for The New York Times Magazine and the Washington Post, among other publications. In addition, he has been a guest on numerous radio and television programs, including Nightline, CNN Newsnight, and The Charlie Rose Show.

Peter Elkind graduated from Princeton University in 1980. He lives in Texas.
