Lecturer; Director of Interdisciplinary Teaching and Learning

Petra Dierkes-Thrun is the Director of Interdisciplinary Teaching and Learning and teaches Comparative Literature and Feminist, Gender and Sexuality Studies at Stanford University, California. She is the author of Salome’s Modernity: Oscar Wilde and the Aesthetics of Transgression (University of Michigan Press, 2011) and writes about Oscar Wilde and his circle, forgotten women writers, feminist and lesbian, gay, and transgender literature and history since the 19th century, as well as digital pedagogy involving social media and blended learning in the Humanities. An award-winning teacher, Dierkes-Thrun was recently honored as an outstanding foreign-born educational leader by the World Affairs Council of Northern California. Dierkes-Thrun holds a PhD in English from the University of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and Staatsexamen degrees from the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn.
