Poppy Harlow is a New York-based journalist who was a long-time correspondent for CNN before announcing her departure in 2024. She has a reputation for her in-depth reporting on breaking news, features, and investigative stories and for years was notably recognized for her work as an anchor with "CNN This Morning," centered at CNN's New York news bureau. She previously served as the co-anchor of CNN Newsroom weekdays from 9 A.M. to 11 A.M. Harlow initially joined the CNN team in 2008, making substantial contributions as a business correspondent for CNN, CNN International, and HLN. Her coverage has consistently focused on business and economic news and its global impact on policy and people.
Over the years, Harlow has reported on major international business events, including the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway annual meeting, South by Southwest, The North American International Auto Show, and Fortune's Brainstorm conferences. She has interviewed a diverse range of individuals, from the heads of the world's largest banks to cultural icons like Jay-Z.
Harlow's reporting has received industry-wide recognition. She won the Gracie Award for the Best online investigative feature on financial fraud and the Society of American Business Editors and Writers (SABEW) Best in Business award for online video. Additionally, she was honored with a John Jay Award from her alma mater, Columbia College. Harlow has also utilized her expertise as a speaker, notably at the John Jay Awards Dinner in 2022.
Before joining CNN, Harlow served as an anchor, reporter, and producer for the Forbes.com Video Network. She also held the position of an anchor and reporter for NY1 News Local Edition. She expanded her education beyond her initial Bachelor's degree in Political Science and Middle Eastern studies from Columbia University, earning a Master of Studies in Law (M.S.L.) degree from Yale Law School. Off the screen, she is married to Sinisa Babcic, with whom she shares two children.
