Punch Brothers

Grammy Award-Winning Quintet That Blends Bluegrass & Classical Styles

Punch Brothers is a New York-based, Grammy Award-winning quintet that was formed by the singer and mandolinist Chris Thile and which features the guitarist Chris Eldridge, the bassist Paul Kowert, the banjo player Noam Pikelny, and the fiddler Gabe Witcher.

Their style has been described as "bluegrass instrumentation and spontaneity in the structures of modern classical," as well as "American country-classical chamber music."

The band released its first album, Punch, in 2008. Their sophomore album, Antifogmatic, produced by Jon Brion, followed in 2010.

Their fifth full-length studio album, All Ashore, was released in 2018 and received the Grammy Award for Best Folk Album at the 61st Grammy Awards on February 10, 2019. According to Thile, the album was "a meditation on committed relationships in the present day, particularly in light of the current unsettled political climate."
