Rachel Barek

Founding Partner at Said Differently; Motivational & Leadership Speaker; Former Managing Director at AKQA

Rachel Barek is a highly motivated, results-driven, dynamic, executive leader with over twenty years of experience. Barek is currently a founding partner of Said Differently, an untraditional agency created with a simple premise: Do the best work with the best talent, anywhere.

Even before our world was introduced to COVID-19, Barek believed that 2020 would mark an interesting crossroad with respect to brands and customers. Said Differently is 100% distributed and uniquely positioned to solve problems, crack briefs, build products and lead teams whose work will thrive in this rapidly changing world.

Before founding Said Differently, Rachel was the Managing Director of AKQA's Washington, D.C. office. There she led over 100 full-time employees dedicated to delivering future-forward ideas, products, and services. Her award-winning work for the Fly Delta mobile application, earned accolades from the Cannes International Festival of Creativity and Apple Design awards.

Prior to joining AKQA, Barek led the digital efforts behind the Bank of America and Merrill Lynch merger at Organic NY, as well as many American Express, Johnson & Johnson, and Samsung campaigns and site builds during her tenure at Digitas, NY, and JWT, NY.

Barek mentors and speaks to students and marketers from a wide range of institutions about the ever-changing industry. She has been a featured guest speaker at Rutgers University's 'Leadership in Work Organization' course in the School of Management and Labor Relations, and a judge for the the Shorty Awards, Future Lions and Cannes Young Lion awards.

Barek holds an undergraduate degree from Hamilton College and a Master's degree from NYU. She is a slow runner, bug hater, experimental cooker, occasional blackjack player, ex-collegiate softball player, lapsed EMT and ENTJ. She resides in Washington D.C. with her wife, two children, and their badly-behaved beagle.
