Rachel Payne

Founder and CEO, FEM Inc.

Rachel Payne started FEM Inc. when she realized that there was an enormous opportunity for innovation in entertainment using a data-driven approach. In her prior role as Principal, Global Strategic Alliances at Google, she worked with top executives across the company to develop comprehensive strategies for their largest global partners, including Sony, Disney, NewsCorp and Samsung. She also served externally as the global point of contact for some of the company’s most important relationships, including Sony. It was in this capacity that she was able to identify a unique opportunity in the entertainment ecosystem to serve to meet a diverse set of user needs for better entertainment.

She originally joined Google on the founding team of Google.org. She later led Google’s international business operations in emerging and developing markets as a Country Manager in sub-Saharan Africa, on the regional Africa management team.

Prior to this, she was President and Co-Founder of inDplay, a cloud-based rights and contract management service for studios that enabled rights licensing globally. inDplay was acquired in 2008 by Discovery Media Holding Company. Previously, she was on the early teams of Billpoint (Sequoia-funded, eBay acquired) and Hotwire (Texas Pacific Ventures-funded, IAC acquired). She started her career in technology at IDG, working in business development for PC World. She has a BA from Smith College and MBA from Stanford University.
