Rachel Renée Russell and and her daughter Nikki Russell are the authors of the #1 New York Times Best Selling book series, "Dork Diaries" which has spent 323 weeks on the NYT bestsellers list. The series has sold over 15 million copies worldwide and has been translated into 32 languages. Rachel and Nikki also co-authored the spin-off "The Misadventures of Max Crumbly."

Rachel Renée Russell is an attorney who wrote the "Dork Diaries" series, which chronicles the life of Nikki Maxwell and is inspired by the middle school experiences of Russell's two daughters. Nikki Russell is the illustrator of the series and the inspiration for the main character's name. The first "Dork Diaries" book was released in 2009 and since then 15 books have been published in the series. The series chronicles the not-so-fabulous life of Nikki Maxwell as she navigates the halls of middle school, mean girls, BFF drama, and first crushes.

But the secret's already gotten out; the series launched four years ago, and there are already 12 million books in print in 34 different languages. The sixth in the series — Tales From a Not-So-Happy Heartbreaker — was just published in June.
