The Apostolic Nunciature in Spain informed the Spanish Episcopal Conference ( CEE ) at 12:00 pm on Friday, July 27 , the Vatican has announced that Pope Benedict XVI has accepted the resignation for reasons of age as diocesan bishop of Bishop Rafael Palmero Ramos naming new Bishop of the Diocese of Orihuela- Alicante Murgui Monsignor Jesus Soriano , until now Bishop of Mallorca since late 2003 .   Thus the Holy Father accepted the resignation of the Bishop of Orihuela- Alicante , Monsignor Rafael Palmero , filed on July 27 last year. Date on which she turned 75, the age limit set by canon law to hold this position . Monsignor Rafael Palmero was appointed Bishop of Orihuela- Alicante in 2005 , after the Pope accepted the resignation of the former prelate , Monsignor Victorio Oliver , also for reasons of age.
