Rajiv Maheswaran is CEO of Second Spectrum, a startup that revolutionizes sports using intelligence and technology. Second Spectrum focuses on machine learning, computer vision and augmented reality technology solutions to better understand and enjoy sports.

Prior to this, he was a Research Assistant Professor at the University of Southern California's Computer Science Department and a Project Leader at the Information Sciences Institute at the USC Viterbi School of Engineering. He co-directs the Computational Behavior Group. He received a B.S. degree in Applied Mathematics, Engineering and Physics from University of Wisconsin-Madison. He received M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

His research spans various aspects of multi-agent systems and distributed artificial intelligence using decision-theoretic and game-theoretic frameworks and solutions. His current interests focus on data analytics, visualization and real-time interaction to understand behavior in spatiotemporal domains.

He won the 2014 USC Viterbi School of Engineering Use-Inspired Research Award, the Best Research Paper Prize (Alpha Award) at the 2014 MIT Sloan Sports Analytics Conference, the Grand Prize at the 2013 Maseeh Entrepreneurship Prize Competition, the Best Research Paper Prize (Alpha Award) at the 2012 MIT Sloan Sports Analytics Conference, the Best Demonstration Award at the 2011 International Joint Conference on Autonomous Agents and Multi-Agent Systems, and the Best Demonstration Award at the 2010 International Joint Conference on Autonomous Agents and Multi-Agent Systems. He has over 100 publications in artificial intelligence and control theory and been an active reviewer for major conferences and journals in these fields.

He served as the Innovative Applications Track Chair for AAMAS 2014, Senior Program Committee Member for AAMAS 2008, 2011 and 2012 and Program Committee Member for the AAAI, AAMAS and IJCAI conferences. He was a co-organizer of the 2012 and 2013 AAMAS workshops on "Human-Agent Interaction, Design and Models (HAIDM)", the 2011 AAAI Spring Symposium, "Help Me Help You: Bridging the Gaps in Human-Agent Collaboration", the 2009 AAMAS workshop on "Agent Design: Advancing from Practice to Theory" (ADAPT), the 2007 and 2008 AAMAS workshops on "Multi-agent Sequential Decision-Making in Uncertain Domains" (MSDM). He received Meritorious Service Awards from USC-ISI in 2006, 2007 and 2009.
