He was a key figure in warning about the potential devastation of COVID-19 in India, leading significant epidemiological studies published in "Science" and organizing critical aid during the pandemic through the "OxygenForIndia" campaign. His past roles include contributing to the Disease Control Priorities for Developing Countries, 3rd edition, and creating the Immunization Technical Support Unit which supports the immunization program in India. Laxminarayan's influence and research have been widely recognized, making him a valued voice in global health discussions, as covered by major media outlets such as Associated Press, BBC, CNN, the Economist, and NPR.
