University Distinguished Professor, Expert on Emerging Markets, Strategy & Innovation Specialist

Ravi Ramamurti is a University Distinguished Professor of International Business & Strategy and the Founding Director of the Center for Emerging Markets at Northeastern University. He obtained his MBA from the Indian Institute of Management-Ahmedabad, where he graduated first in his class, and his DBA from Harvard University in 1982 under Professors Raymond Vernon and Alfred Chandler. Fluent in English and based in Massachusetts, USA, he has authored eight books, including "Emerging Multinationals from Emerging Markets" (Cambridge University Press, 2008) and "Privatizing Monopolies" (Johns Hopkins University Press).

His research focuses on strategy, innovation, and business-government relations in emerging economies. He has also published extensively in leading journals such as the Academy of Management Executive, Academy of Management Review, and Journal of International Business Studies, among others. Ramamurti has been a visiting professor at several esteemed institutions, including Harvard Business School, Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, and MIT-Sloan School of Management. Additionally, he was elected a Fellow of the Academy of International Business in 2008 for his outstanding contributions to the field.

Over his career, Ramamurti has consulted with international organizations like the United Nations, USAID, and the World Bank, as well as corporate clients including General Electric, Tata Group, and Wipro. He has delivered keynote speeches on a variety of topics such as future trends, change management, and work-life balance at healthcare conferences in countries like Brazil, Canada, India, and the United States. Recognized as a leading thinker on strategy and innovation in emerging markets, Ramamurti was honored in 2017 by The Globals for being the most innovative thinker in this field. He is also actively involved in workshops and consulting, emphasizing his role in educational and organizational development activities.
