Founder & Chief Investment Officer at Bridgewater Associates, One of the World's Largest Hedge Funds

Ray Dalio is Founder, Co-Chairman and Co-Chief Investment Officer of Bridgewater Associates. He launched the firm from his two-bedroom apartment in New York in 1975, and under his leadership, Bridgewater culminated as the largest hedge fund in the world by 2005. His innovative approach to finance, such as the launch of Bridgewater's flagship strategy, "Pure Alpha," in 1991 and the well-known low-risk strategy known as risk parity, "All Weather," in 1996, has reshaped the industry.

For his industry-changing contributions, including his substantial advisory work to policymakers globally, Dalio has been recognized as the “Steve Jobs of Investing” by aiCIO Magazine and Wired Magazine. He was listed as one of the 100 Most Influential People by TIME Magazine in 2012 and ranked No. 2 on Institutional Investor's Alpha Rich List the same year.

His insights are encapsulated in his New York Times #1 Bestseller "Principles," which outlines his work and life principles, forming the cornerstone of Bridgewater’s unique culture and success. Dalio and Bridgewater also published "Principles for Navigating Big Debt Crises," which was instrumental in anticipating the 2008 Financial Crisis. Additionally, his financial acumen is documented in "How the Economic Machine Works" and his latest offering "The Changing World Order: Why Nations Succeed and Fail."

Dalio holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from C.W. Post College and an MBA degree from Harvard Business School. His philanthropic endeavors are channeled through the Dalio Foundation, which has donated more than $1 billion in charitable grants. With assets of about $842 million, the foundation focuses on causes such as health justice and ocean conservation. In 2020, the Dalio Foundation supported China's coronavirus recovery efforts with a $10 million donation and initiated the Dalio Center for Health Justice with a $50 million endowment.
