Deputy Director of the Center for Reducing Health Disparities at the University of Nebraska Medical Center

Dr. Renaisa Anthony is a licensed physician by training, public health & policy practitioner by passion and the Founder of Momentum Park, “where moms come first and every moment matters.”

Dr. Anthony was born premature to a single mother in one of the lowest income zip codes in Detroit, Michigan. Humble beginnings exposed her to the impact of poverty and the social determinants of health on life outcomes. As a result, Dr. Anthony is personally and professionally dedicated to advancing equity by optimizing the health, lives and wellbeing of underserved and under-resourced communities by integrating medicine, public health, advocacy and prioritizing technology.

Dr. Anthony has demonstrated long-standing leadership at the local, state and federal levels as a collaborative change agent across multiple sectors including academia, health care organizations, government, corrections, non-profit and corporate entities. As a previously NIH funded and published researcher, Dr. Anthony’s research interests focused on the underlying causes and solutions to health inequities among disadvantaged populations, namely women and girls. Globally, she has led medical missions across Africa, Central and South America. She emphasizes the health in healthcare by clinically practicing preventative, integrative and trauma informed care. She is most proud of the students (now industry leaders) she has taught over the decades in the clinic, classroom and community.

Dr. Anthony is a highly sought after speaker, physician, innovator and health equity advocate. Her notable honors and awards include but are not limited to: Congressional Top 40 Under 40 Leader in Health Care Award; The National Medical Association (NMA) Top Doctor Under 40; The American Public Health Association (APHA) Health Policy Leader; The Surgeon General of the United States Preterm Birth Leadership & Advocacy; TEDx Talk entitled “A Recipe for Health Equity in the 21st Century”; Testified before the United States Congress in support of health care reform; and federal grant reviewer for National Institutes of Health (NIH) and Centers for Disease Control.

Dr. Anthony earned a medical degree from the University of Chicago, Masters of Public Health from Harvard University, residency training at Vanderbilt University and Health Policy Fellowship at the National Institutes of Health and the Office of the Surgeon General.
