Richard Seiersen has over twenty five years experience in security and risk management – with ten of those years as a CISO across Healthcare, Insurance and Cloud Native enterprises.
He’s currently the Chief Risk Officer for Resilience Insurance. His focus is on the design and development of enterprise grade Cyber Risk Quantification solutions and services for forecasting losses, building budgets, prioritizing security controls and aligning insurance policies.
Prior to Resilience Seiersen was the co-founder of Soluble, a cloud native security company sold to Lacework.com (2021). He is a former Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) for GE Healthcare, Twilio, and LendingClub and ran security operations across the US for Kaiser Permanente (the nation's largest health maintenance provider.)
Seiersen has also authored two books: How To Measure Anything In Cybersecurity Risk and The Metrics Manifesto: Confronting Security With Data. Seiersen 's first book is the main curriculum for the Department of Defense (DOD) CISO program out of Carnegie Mellon. His book is also used as a curriculum in several graduate programs at universities such as Harvard, Brown, Berkeley, and many others. Lastly, HTMA Cyber is the only security book to be required reading for the Society of Actuaries Exam Prep.
Seiersen is also part of IANS Research’s CISO Faculty. Over the past 5 years he has consulted with over 250 fortune level security organizations on metrics, strategy and cyber risk quantification. Seiersen is a sought after public speaker and frequently delivers keynotes, training, and panel discussions at security and risk management events. His next keynote will be at Blackhat’s CISO summit where he will speak on communicating effectively – and quantitatively - with the board.
