Rick Famuyiwa is a director, producer and screenwriter. He created films such as The Wood, Brown Sugar, and Our Family Wedding.

Famuyiwa, who was raised in Los Angeles by Nigerian immigrants, believes that there are still many stereotypes and barriers to break down in the industry in order for African Americans to be accredited the respect they deserve. Famuyiwa commonly uses majority black casts in his own movies, and explores themes of racial diversity and acceptance.
