Cofounder, Spoiler Alert

Ricky Ashenfelter is the Co-Founder & CEO of Spoiler Alert, a food-tech startup to help businesses manage surplus food and organic waste. Launched in 2015, Spoiler Alert creates an online marketplace and collaboration tool for otherwise wasted food. Spoiler Alert was a member of the 2016 cohort of Techstars Boston and 2015 winner of MassChallenge.

Ricky is a graduate of the MIT Sloan School of Management in Cambridge, MA, where he focused on Sustainability, Entrepreneurship & Innovation - particularly within the cleantech and food industries. At Sloan, he was the Teaching Assistant for 15.366 Energy Ventures, MIT's premier energy entrepreneurship course. Ricky also served as the Managing Director of the MIT Clean Energy Prize, one of the nation's premier clean energy startup competitions that distributes more than $300,000 to student ventures aimed at solving the world's energy problems.

Prior to MIT Sloan, Ricky was a Senior Consultant in Deloitte’s Sustainability practice, contributing to client projects focused on greenhouse gas emissions inventories, sustainability reporting via CDP, energy management, supply chain analyses, and emissions reduction strategies. Ricky served in roles focused on the identification of energy and carbon efficiencies within retail and consumer product value chains, and developed financial modeling tools that help companies forecast business-as-usual activities, evaluate emissions reduction projects and set actionable strategies and goals.

In addition to an MBA from MIT, Ricky holds a B.S.B.A. in Finance, Management & Environmental Studies from Georgetown University. Prior to joining Deloitte, Ricky was a Senior Associate at ClearCarbon Inc. and interned with the U.S. EPA’s Climate Protection Partnerships Division.
