Rob McElhenney

Creator & Star of "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" & "Mythic Quest"; Co-Owner of Welsh Football Club Wrexham A.F.C.

Rob McElhenney, an American actor, writer, producer, podcaster, and businessman, embarked on his entertainment journey in 1996. His dedication and passion led him to create the FX/FXX comedy series, "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia," where he plays the role of Ronald "Mac" McDonald. This venture was a collaborative effort with Charlie Day and Glenn Howerton, who remained as executive producers and writers. Not limiting himself to one sphere, McElhenney also co-created and starred in the Apple TV+ comedy series, "Mythic Quest."

In addition to his on-screen accomplishments, McElhenney explored the world of sports when he became a co-owner of the Welsh football club, Wrexham A.F.C., in 2020. His involvement in the sports industry extended to producing the FX sports documentary series, "Welcome to Wrexham," which covers the ownership of the football club and has won multiple Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards. As a businessman, McElhenney has demonstrated his acumen by co-founding Mac's Tavern in Philadelphia and an Irish American Whiskey company, Four Walls, as well as launching the entertainment-tech company, Adim.

McElhenney's versatility and adaptability are evident in his numerous guest appearances in TV shows such as "Lost" and "Fargo," and his dramatic body transformation for his role in "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia." He has also lent his voice to the video game FIFA 23 and appeared in a music video for Imagine Dragons' song "Follow You."
