Robert D. Blackwill is president of BGR International, a strategic consulting and government affairs firm. He served as deputy assistant to the president and deputy national security advisor for strategic planning under President George W. Bush and was responsible for government-wide policy planning to develop and coordinate the midterm and long-term direction of American foreign policy. He also served as presidential envoy to Iraq and was coordinator for US policies on Afghanistan and Iran. From 2001 to 2003, he was the US ambassador to India.
