Robert Fogarty

Photographer, Founder of Dear World; Co-Founder of Evacuteer.org

Robert X. Fogarty is the co-founder evacuteer.org and founder of Dear World. He started evacuteer.org after assisting the City of New Orleans to evacuate 18,000 residents without cars in advance of Hurricane Gustav, the largest hurricane evacuation in U.S. history.

Evacuteer.org was established as 501(c)3 nonprofit in 2009 to help fill critical staffing needs for the City of New Orleans during City-Assisted Evacuation.

Forgarty’s portrait project, Dear World, began in New Orleans as photographic love notes to the city. He now uses his distinct message-on-skin-style to tell stories of subjects regardless of religion, race or language. Fogarty has photographed thousands, including Super Bowl Most Valuable Player Drew Brees, Academy Award Winner Susan Sarandon and NBA All Star Chris Paul. His work has been featured by the Washington Post, PBS, CNN, The New York Times, and NPR, among others, and Fogarty now travels to photo shoots and speaking engagements across the country.

Fogarty graduated from the University of Oregon School of Journalism in 2005.
