Robert Smigel

Writer for "Saturday Night Live"

Who says cartoons are for kids? Television animation is everywhere - from the traditional Saturday morning slot to prime time series to late night - - and Emmy winning Robert Smigel is at the forefront of the animation mania. A contributor and former performer for the reincarnated Saturday Night Live, he has brought a breath of fresh air to the long-running show with his hilarious animated creations, including "The Ambiguously Gay Duo," "The X Presidents" and "Fun with Real Audio." His significant contributions to the show were recently recognized by the Dallas Video Festival, where he was awarded the prestigious Ernie Kovacs Award. Lorne Michaels, executive producer of SNL, sums it up best when he states, "Robert Smigel has added the best thing that has happened to us this season."

Smigel now comes to the campus stage with a multi-media special event. With never-before-seen footage, he takes his audience inside the creative process that has produced some of the most outrageous characters seen on TV, live or animated, in years. Smigel also gives you an insider's look at the future of animation, including a preview of his own series now in development with FOX.
