David Swanson

Dr. David Swanson is a licensed clinical psychologist, award-winning author and principal at one of LA’s premiere private practices, Swanson, Conti and Associates. As a married father of three boys, Dr. Swanson has plenty of hands-on experience. From play-dates to piano lessons, sports to academics and discipline to cuddles, he knows first-hand the issues families face today. He has gained national attention for his highly effective approach with children, teens, adults and families.
Dr. Swanson holds two Master’s Degrees and a Doctoral Degree in Clinical Psychology. Known as the ‘go-to’ expert, he frequently appears on local and national television programs including NBC’S TODAY, CBS’ The Early Show, NBC’S EXTRA, KCBS/KCAL, KTTV’S Studio 11 LA and the KTLA Morning News. Last year, he appeared regularly on three shows: Dr. Drew’s Lifechangers (CW), Kidnapped by the Kids (OWN) and My Mom is Obsessed (Discovery Fit). In addition to television, Dr. Swanson has been interviewed by CNN Radio, ABC Talk Radio and Family Life Radio. Also, stories featuring Dr. Swanson have appeared in The Los Angeles Times, The Daily News, The San Diego Tribune, LA Parent and Ladies Home Journal. Dr. Swanson also serves as a corporate speaker for many companies including Ernst & Young, HealthNet and DreamWorks, SKG.
Dr. Swanson is the author of the award-winning book, “Help – My Kid is Driving Me Crazy: The 17 Ways Kids Manipulate Their Parents and What You Can Do About It.” This ground-breaking book serves as a quick-reference guide designed to give parents the answers they need to effectively put an end to problematic behaviors in “three minutes or less.” It features his new model which allows parents to quickly identify their child’s temperament, allowing them to “tailor-make” a home structure to greatly reduce problematic behavior in the future (regardless of the child’s age). Highly acclaimed, “Help My Kid is Driving Me Crazy” has received Honors from the National Parenting Publication Awards (NAPPA) and was selected as a Top-50 Parenting Book.
