Mr. Robert Vrij has been the President of Global Sales & Marketing at Alcatel-Lucent, S.A. since September 2012. Mr. Vrij serves as an Executive Vice President and Head of Alcatel Lucent Strategic Alliances at Alcatel-Lucent, S.A. He has been the President of Americas Region of Alcatel-Lucent, S.A. since January 2009. Mr. Vrij has over 15 years of senior management experience. He is responsible for overseeing all of Alcatel-Lucent's sales and operations in North America and CALA (Caribbean and Latin America). Mr. Vrij served as Chief Executive Officer and President of Openwave Systems Inc. from March 23, 2007 to April 16, 2008. Mr. Vrij served as Senior Vice President of Worldwide Field Operations of Openwave Systems Inc. from January 2, 2007 to March 23, 2007. He served as Senior Vice President of Worldwide Sales of General Bandwidth Inc. (Formerly, GENBAND Inc.) since October 2004. Mr. Vrij served as the Chief Executive Officer and President of Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) of Lucent Technologies where he managed approximately $2B in revenue. He served as Vice President of Sales of Lucent Technologies and led sales organizations selling circuit, packet, IP, optical, access, and wireless networks into CLEC, undersea cable and integrator, RBOC and foreign PTT and MSO markets. During his tenure at AT&T/Unisource, he managed a global indirect channel of 37 of the most prominent PTT's around the world driving more than $300M of sales through this channel. He has also held senior executive sales positions at Voxpath Networks and NextiraOne. He served as an Interim Chairman of Openwave Systems Inc. from September 17, 2007 to January 10, 2008. He serves on Board of Directors for CTIA (Cellular Telecommunications Industry Association) and as a board member of CTM (Institute for Communication Technology Management). He served as Director at Openwave Systems Inc. since June 4, 2007. Mr. Vrij holds Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Marketing from Southwest Texas State University and an MBA from St. Thomas University in Texas.
