He has experience with Fortune 100 companies on digital transformation initiatives using mobile, SaaS, and cloud hybrid products. Medrano is a cybersecurity pioneer and led initiatives in the early phases of the firewall, content security, and security policy. He was selected as a participant in President Clinton's White House Security Summit on cyber security. He is the founder and board member of the Information Technology Information Sharing and Analysis Center (IT-ISAC) and participated in the National Cyber Security Summits and The White House National Strategy to Secure Cyberspace. He was one of the top 100 Sr. Executives at HP as General Manager of HP Software. As GM for HP divisions, he served a vital role as head of HP's key strategic emerging businesses that included cybersecurity, middleware, management, web services, CRM, and E-commerce.

Medrano was ranked (2014) as #12 of the top 250 CMOs in the world, "The 100 Most Influential Hispanics in the US", and "The 100 Most Influential Latinos of Silicon Valley. He has served on more than 30 company/advisory boards: Arcot, Aventail, Encentuate, Netscaler, Bigfix, AirZip, Confluent, PivX, Sand Hill IT Security, and JackBe.

Medrano received his MBA from UCLA, his Masters of Engineering from MIT, and his undergraduate engineering degree from USC.
