Roberto Trevino

Chef Known for "Iron Chef: America" and "The Next Iron Chef"

Chef Roberto Treviño became fascinated with the kitchen as a young cook in the San Francisco Bay area. The opening of El Conquistador Resort brought him to Puerto Rico where he fell in love with the flavors of the island.

He is currently Chef / Owner of four restaurants in Puerto Rico: His flagship Latin-Asian Budatai, Bar Gitano which features Spanish tapas and award-winning paellas, local watering hole El Barril, and his newest creation, the 16,000 square foot "criollo kitchen" Casa Lola. His fifth restaurant, Rosa Mexicano, a collaboration with NYC restaurateur Howard Greenstone, opened in early 2013.

Chef Treviño has been honored to cook dinner at the James Beard House in New York for their award events, is frequently featured as a guest chef in food events throughout the US and the Caribbean, including the Aspen Food & Wine Classic, Telluride Culinary Festival and the St Croix Food and Wine Festival, and has served as guest chef on Celebrity Cruise Lines ships on several occasions.

He has made numerous television appearances both in Puerto Rico and the US, including a battle against renowned chef Mario Batali on Iron Chef America, as a contestant on Next Iron Chef, with Rachel Ray on her show $40 a day, as well as on his own local shows Kandela and the currently running 4 Minutos con Chef Treviño.

Magazine and newspaper articles abound as well, and Chef Treviño has been featured in Condé Nast Traveler, The New York Times, Bon Appétit and Gourmet, among others.

In late 2011 Chef Treviño opened CookShop Productions to produce television and events. In the few short months since its creation CookShop has successfully launched two television series and created the first of its kind Food & Fashion Festival, a once a year event which was attended by more than 3,000 guests on its inaugural date.
