Legal Advisor At The Legal Division of the International Committee of the Red Cross

Since January 2011, Dr. Robin Geiss, LL.M. (NYU), holder of a Junior Professor of International and European Law at the University of Potsdam. Robin Gei β studied law in Bielefeld, Kiel, Edinburgh and New York and was ERP scholar of the Foundation of the German people. During his studies and traineeship at the Hanseatic Higher Regional Court of Hamburg (with stations including the Federal Ministry of Justice) Robin Geiss was also a research assistant of Prof. Dr. Andreas Zimmermann, LL.M. (Harvard) at Walther Schuecking Institute of International Law in Kiel, by Professor Philip Alston at New York University and Prof. Dr. Meinhard Hilf at the Bucerius Law School. His doctoral thesis on the "Failed States" ( summa cum laude ) was published in 2005 at Oxford University Press.

After completing his legal training with the second exam Robin Gei worked β end of 2010 as legal adviser to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Geneva. He was responsible in particular for advice on the application of international humanitarian law in the context of new forms of conflict and war novel technologies. Robin Geiss was beyond. 2008 to 2009 ICRC delegate at the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva and at the UN General Assembly in New York Since 2010 he is member of an international panel of experts that examined under the auspices of the NATO cyber defense center in Tallinn in the event of military cyberattacks applicable legal rules.

Research: basic and human rights, general international law and European law, particularly United Nations law, international humanitarian law and international criminal law.
