Rodrigo de Rato Rodrigo de Rato was Director General of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) from 2004-7 and prior to that he was Minister of Economy in the Spanish government from 1996 to 2004. During his time at the IMF he promoted a strong global financial system, fought against poverty and increased the role of the IMF in developing economies. His current appointments include being Senior Managing Director of Lazard Bank and member of the Management Boards of both La Caixa and Banco Santander.
