Roger and Kathy Cawthon

Founders of The Cancer Crusade

Former CNN sportscaster Roger Cawthon and award-winning author and photographer Kathy Cawthon are co-founders of The Cancer Crusade, an organization dedicated to fighting cancer with hope and humor. Through this organization, they provide encouragement and support to cancer survivors, their family members and friends, and the medical professionals who care for them by offering a comprehensive series of uplifting programs and products.

Roger Cawthon is a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point. He spent eight years as a television sportscaster with CNN and with ABC and CBS affiliates. His many and varied experiences include a round of golf with Jack Nicklaus, a few rounds in the ring with heavyweight champion Evander Holyfield, and an impromptu on-stage duet with James Brown singing the classic Proud Mary.

Kathy Cawthon’s freelance writing and photography has appeared in such national publications as McCall's, Ladies' Home Journal, Family Circle, and Writer's Digest magazines. She is the author of The Devil's Web and Getting Out: An Escape Manual for Abused Women. Her work has received numerous awards from Virginia Press Women, The National Federation of Press Women, and the Virginia Press Association. Kathy is a graduate of the College of William and Mary where she is also a Fellow of the Eastern Virginia Writing Project.

Diagnosed with cancer within six weeks of each other, and following more than a year of aggressive cancer treatments, this dynamic husband-and-wife team celebrated their survival by completing the grueling 26.2-mile Marine Corps Marathon. The life-altering series of experiences is the platform from which they launched The Cancer Crusade.

The Cancer Crusade's keynote presentations and seminars bring in rave reviews from medical professionals, survivors and caregivers alike. Their frankly hilarious take on the world of medicine blends seamlessly with a powerful message that energizes and inspires audiences to laugh, love and live in the moment, every moment. Whether you are looking for an educational and entertaining keynote for a medical conference or an uplifting and hilarious presentation for a cancer survivor celebration, you will want to include The Cancer Crusade in your plans.
