Rohit Prasad is senior vice president and head scientist for Artificial General Intelligence at Amazon, where he leads a team advancing the company's generative AI technologies - notably, Amazon's extensive multimodal Large Language Models. Before this role, Prasad served as the senior vice president and head scientist for Amazon Alexa, spearheading research and development in speech recognition, natural language understanding, and machine learning technologies to enhance customer interactions with Amazon's products and services. In his tenure with Amazon Alexa, he led a multi-disciplinary team focused on advancing generalizable AI, with their product, engineering, and scientific advancements driving the uptake of Alexa by millions of customers globally. Prasad's efforts have simplified the process for anyone to develop skills for Alexa or incorporate Alexa into their device or app.

Before joining Amazon, Rohit was Deputy Manager and Sr. Director for the Speech, Language, and Multimedia Business Unit at Raytheon BBN Technologies. In this capacity, he directed U.S. Government-sponsored research and development efforts in speech-to-speech translation, psychological health analytics, document image translation, and STEM learning. He is a named author on over 100 scientific articles and holds several patents.

Prasad's educational background includes an MS in Electrical Engineering from Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago, and a BE in Electronics and Communications Engineering from Birla Institute of Technology, India.
