Romi Bhatia is the Executive Director of the Idea Center at Miami Dade College (MDC). The Idea Center is the entrepreneurship and innovation engine of MDC. Bhatia is passionate about public service and committed to empowering individuals who want to pursue the entrepreneurial pathway.

Bhatia has an extensive background in international development with a career spanning 25 developing countries across Latin America, Sub-Saharan Africa, and South Asia. He brings extensive knowledge and experience in microfinance, small enterprise development and impact investing. From 2009 to 2017, Bhatia taught microfinance and crowdfunding as an adjunct lecturer at the George Washington University School of Business.

Bhatia was a Fulbright Scholar in 2001 and 2002 affiliated with several organizations and with a research focus on the use of smartcard technology to enhance microfinance operations. Bhatia has a Masters of International Affairs (2004) from Columbia University with a concentration in International Finance and Business.
