With a career spanning more than 30 years as a vastly successful entertainment reporter, commentator, and producer, Rona Barrett has been both an eyewitness to and an expert on the ever-changing world of entertainment and celebrities in the news, from Hollywood to sports figures and political leaders.
As the first woman to bring entertainment news to television, the first to headline her own interview television specials, and the first to publish magazines under her brand, Barrett is one of the best known pioneers and innovators in entertainment reporting and publishing.
From the start of her career at The Bell-McClure-NANA newspaper syndicate as the youngest columnist to ever report on Hollywood through her role in inaugurating Good Morning America, Barrett has blazed the trail for innovative entertainment reporting and for women in the media industry. Barrett's industry expertise behind the scenes was also pioneering, as she was the first entertainment reporter to be called upon as a consultant for Fortune 500 companies with entertainment holdings.
Since 2000, Barrett has turned her entrepreneurial spirit to creating a nonprofit foundation to help address today's growing crisis in care for our country's most vulnerable seniors. The Rona Barrett Foundation is committed to providing affordable housing for the elderly in need, with an innovative community-centered model called The Golden Inn and Village. A pilot program is in progress on California’s Central Coast with the goal of creating a replicable model to serve low-income seniors in communities throughout the United States.
Dynamic and glamorous, Rona Barrett is an icon for new and longtime fans, a role model for women (especially those those pursuing media and communications careers), and an inspiration for professionals in the critical fields of health and aging care. As a keynote speaker, Barrett delivers a fascinating insider view of the entertainment industry "fast lane," as well as lessons learned and the personal and professional challenges that have inspired her to make a difference again and again.
