Actress Known for "Daredevil" & "Rent;" Activist, Co-Founder & Chairwoman of Voto Latino

Actress Rosario Dawson has starred in a wide spectrum of independent and feature films, including Sin City, Rent, and Grindhouse. She has also appeared in more recent projects like Zombieland: Double Tap in 2019 and Briarpatch in 2020. In addition to her on-screen performances, Dawson has also made a significant impact in the realm of animated work, providing voice roles for characters like Wonder Woman in the DC Animated Movie Universe and Space Jam: A New Legacy, and Ahsoka Tano in the second season of "The Mandalorian" and "The Book of Boba Fett." Notably, she received the Satellite Award for Best Supporting Actress - Motion Picture for her role in Rent and won the 2008 NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Actress in a Motion Picture.

Despite her non-traditional upbringing, which saw her family squatting in an empty building due to financial constraints, Dawson managed to forge a successful career in Hollywood. This journey began at the age of 15 when director Larry Clark discovered her and cast her in the controversial movie, Kids. Since then, Dawson has showcased her acting talent and versatility in numerous roles, including her notable performances in Josie and the Pussycats and Men In Black II. She has also made her mark in comic book adaptations, with roles such as Gail in Sin City, Claire Temple in five of the Marvel Netflix series, and Diana Prince / Wonder Woman in the DC Animated Movie Universe.

In addition to acting, Dawson is known for her impactful activism and philanthropy work. She co-founded Voto Latino to encourage Latinos to register and vote, actively fundraises for the Lower Eastside Girls Club, and is involved in charitable organizations like GirlsClub.org, Scenarios USA, and Pflag. Dawson maintains a strong political presence, having publicly endorsed Bernie Sanders during his presidential campaign and participating in several protests. Her activism extends to speaking at the 2009 National Conference on the Primary Prevention of Men's Violence Against Women in Washington, D.C., and serving as honorary host of the fourth annual "Our Voices: Celebrating Diversity in Media" event at the White House Correspondents' Dinner in 2013.

Embracing her personal identity, Dawson has openly identified as a part of the LGBTQ+ community and spoken about bi-erasure. She also confirmed that she was in a relationship with Senator Cory Booker, further attesting to her active engagement in the political sphere. Despite her busy schedule, Dawson continues to make appearances in TV shows such as "The Last Kids on Earth," "Eden," and "Dopesick," and has even made an appearance on AEW Dynamite.
