After working for 12 years at Patagonia, Rose Marcario became a founding partner at ReGen Ventures. ReGen Ventures was started in 2020 by former investment banker and hedge fund manager Dan Fitzgerald to accelerate investment in regenerative technologies, who reasoned that being sustainable wasn’t enough, and that more industries need to find solutions that actively work with instead of against nature.

Marcario also joined the board of electric vehicle company Rivian and alt-meat company Meati in 2021 because she saw their potential to scale and have a meaningful impact on reducing emissions.

During her time as CEO of Patagonia, the company grew to over a billion dollars a year with a very strong activist focus, launched their organic food company Patagonia Provisions and also co-founded the Regenerative Organic Alliance. Before joining Patagonia as CFO in 2008, Marcario headed up M&A at a West Coast investment firm, was CFO of Apple spin-off General Magic, and then moved into private equity.
