Russ is leader of the Shell’s global GameChanger team and is based in Houston, Texas. GameChanger is a Shell-created innovation program that invests in people around the world whether in or outside of Shell to help mature their breakthrough ideas from first creation to proof-of-concept. Originally a mechanical engineer by degree, Russ is a career “Shell guy” who spent his early years exploring for and producing oil and gas around the world, then later on such things as business planning, strategy, scenarios, and technology venturing. Passionate about the role of technology and innovation in the future of energy, Russ has served as a technology advisor on several recent projects for the National Petroleum Council, Department of Energy, and Department of National Intelligence. Born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska, Russ has lived in Houston most of his adult life with his wife Nancy and their three sons. When he’s not innovating, he enjoys reading, cycling and being a hockey fan.
