Sabato Sagaria has built a reputation in the food and beverage industry as a restaurateur and Master Sommelier, one of only 250 worldwide. His most recent venture saw him serve as the President of bartaco, during which he significantly expanded the company's reach from 13 to 22 restaurants nationwide before its acquisition by a private equity firm. This accomplishment underscores Sagaria's acumen in business strategy and expansion, further solidifying his standing in the restaurant industry. Notably, Sagaria achieved his Master Sommelier designation in 2012, becoming the 120th individual to do so in the United States.
Previously, Sagaria served as the first ever Chief Restaurant Officer at Danny Meyer’s Union Square Hospitality Group for four years. During his tenure, he oversaw the opening of nine new concepts and the operations of 17 restaurants. This extensive experience and exposure to various aspects of the hospitality industry, including counter service to Michelin starred dining, have equipped Sagaria with invaluable insights and expertise in both the creative and operational aspects of restaurant management and development.
Today, Sagaria is a Co-Founder of Apres Cru Hospitality, a New York City-based hospitality company. He has invested in several prominent brands such as Marc Forgione’s Forge Hospitality Group, Pig & Khao Hospitality, Please Don’t Tell, and Crif Dog’s. Beyond these roles, Sagaria's contributions to the success of several iconic properties such as The Greenbrier Hotel, The Inn at Little Washington, and The Little Nell Hotel further attest to his versatility and ability to deliver results in diverse settings. A graduate of Cornell’s School of Hotel Administration, Sagaria started his illustrious career at hotels like The Greenbrier and The Inn at Little Washington. Outside of his professional life, Sagaria enjoys outdoor activities such as golfing, snowboarding, and surfing, hinting at a dynamic and adventurous spirit that likely translates to his innovative approach in the industry.
