Sade N. Jemmott is an Associate based in the Barbados office of Lex Caribbean, Attorneys-at-Law, who attended Queen’s College immediately before pursuing her Bachelors in Law at the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill. At both institutions Sade held several student leadership positions, including Law Society President and Constitutional Chairperson to the Guild of Students. Sade was the recipient of the Olton Springer Memorial Scholarship in 2007 and again in 2008. In 2008, she also won the Commonwealth Lawyers Association Human Rights Essay Competition and was awarded the George Walton Payne and Co. Scholarship in 2009. Sade graduated from the University of the West Indies in 2009 with Upper Second Class Honours and proceeded to Hugh Wooding Law School. While completing her studies there, she represented the school at the American Caribbean Law Initiative Conference. Sade obtained her Legal Education Certificate and was called to the Barbados Bar in October 2011, immediately joining Lex Caribbean to begin her legal career in the International Business Department. Apart from servicing a clientele of international corporate and financial institutions, her practice also focuses on the Entrepreneurial Business Unit which was developed to offer sound legal support and general business facilitation to local entrepreneurs. Sade is also an entrepreneur herself, being the founder of a small web-based marketing and consultancy operation – Whas De Action as well as the co-founder of Island Fusion – Barbados’ largest Foreday Morning Band. Additionally, she is an active participant in Barbados Bar Association, Barbados International Business Association and Barbados Entrepreneurship Foundation activities.
