Salil Deshpande continues to climb the Midas ranks in his third consecutive appearance. Deshpande had two big exits in 2014 with Dropcam (sold to Google) and LendingClub (IPO), both early-stage bets made while at his prior firm Bay Partners. Deshpande invested in the A round of Lending Club at a $25 valuation during the financial crisis. Its market cap is now $7 billion. He joined Bain in 2013 to focus on seed and early-stage investments in infrastructure software, with a particular focus on open source and development tools. Recent investments include a seed investment in APIMetrics and Tealium. Deshpande plays poker and has taken up flying helicopters, learning from Dropcam's CEO Greg Duffy. Other portfolio companies include Typesafe, Redis Labs, Hazelcast, Aria Systems, Iron.io, MuleSoft and Engine Yard, as well as angel investments in ZeroTurnaround and DataStax.
