Sally Nuamah    

Professor at Duke University

Sally Nuamah founded an organization that provides funding for low-income girls who are first-generation college students. Dr. Nuamah was a first-generation college student herself and after receiving a Ph.D. from Northwestern, Dr. Nuamah has been a fellow at Harvard, a research associate at Princeton, as well as assistant professor at Duke, where she is a tenure track professor.

Dr. Nuamah has been published in academic journals including the American Education Research Journal and the Journal of Urban Affairs. Her book How Girls Achieve is set to be published by Harvard University Press in 2019, and she has also had work featured in the Washington Post and Salon.com. Her TedxChicago talk "Clapping with One Hand" was released in 2013. Dr. Nuamah was named as a 2019 Forbes 30 Under 30 Education honoree.
